My online missionary work brings me into contact with many folk seeking Jesus. This is a privilege God has given me and I take it very seriously.
That said, I am looking for input from you, my Brothers & Sisters in Jesus, so that I can become more effective in my replies.
Here is a summary of an e-mail I received & replied to yesterday:- (Sent by mobile)

It's from a guy who lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
He is unemployed and says, "Nothing good happened in my life why??" (Spelling corrected by me)
He also ticked the box that says:- "I just prayed to receive Christ as my Savior for the first time"

I must assume he understands English, but I make my reply as simple as possible.
He needs prayer as he is in a bad situation. Do I include a prayer in my reply or just tell him I have prayed for him?
I must ask him to tell me what he thinks it means to accept Jesus as his Savior.

How would you reply to this dear soul?

Blessings
Derek

What a great ministry, Derek, and what an encouraging email to receive.

There's lots of possible ways you could answer, and God will give you wisdom.

One possibility would be to say God has allowed nothing good to happen in his life so he will see how shaky everything is besides Jesus Christ. That trials can and will shake everything except Him -- because He is our sure and all-satisfying Treasure. I talk about this in a post about Jesus as our Super-Piling.

And I might go ahead and write out a prayer for him -- since that would help him learn how to pray, and would also communicate crucial truths.

And it sounds wise to ask what he means by accepting Jesus as Savior.

There's my thoughts -- maybe God give you wisdom and bring this person to Christ.

Steve

Thank you Steve. I do remember "Jesus as our Super-Piling". There is an awful lot of poverty and suffering out there, and a part of my discipleship is trying to connect folk with Christian Fellowships in their area.
Only a few hang in there and I praise God for them. All the others I look at as seeds sown in God's Vineyard.

I know there are other Christians experiencing the joys & disappointments of Evangelism and it would be great to make contact through this Forum.

Here's praying, Derek
