True Stories About The Work Of The Spirit

Pentecost by Gustave DoreThe Work Of The Spirit

How earnestly do you pray for the work of the Spirit?  How deeply do you long for God presence, and seek Him through prayer and meditation on God’s Word?

I am often spiritually lazy –just going through the motions of prayer and reading God’s Word.  But at those times it’s helpful to read how men and women throughout church history have experienced the work of the Spirit.

Not that I will have the exact same experiences they did.  But when I read what they experienced, it helps me not settle for a dull heart — and reminds me of how powerfully the Holy Spirit can work.

So let these posts stir you to press on to know and experience Jesus Christ all the more deeply —

Jonathan Edwards’ Experience Of The Glory Of Christ

Lukewarm in your passion for God?  Let Jonathan Edwards’ experience of Christ’s glory set your heart on fire.

Blaise Pascal’s Atonishing Experience Of God

How much do we seek Holy Spirit outpourings?  Let Pascal’s description of his encounter with God stir you to seek Him more prayerfully, biblically, and earnestly.

Conquered By Sovereign Joy: Augustine’s Conversion

Augustine said his conversion meant being conquered by Sovereign Joy.  Here’s why — and what this means for us.

Sarah Edwards’ Powerful Experience Of God

Too often I settle for feeling nothing spiritually. That’s why it’s helpful to read about others’ powerful experiences of God — like that of Sarah Edwards.

Why Keep Praying When I’m Feeling Dull?

It’s easy to give up on prayer when we’re feeling dull.  But after reading what Brainerd experienced — you won’t want to.

Don’t Settle For Just Knowing The Truth — FEEL The Truth (4-min video)

Knowing the truth about Jesus is crucial. But God also wants to give us times when we feel the truth about Jesus.  Here’s how to pursue this precious work of the Spirit.
