Celebrate Salvation With Charlie Hall’s “Marvelous Light” (worship video)

Charlie HallCelebrate Salvation

When was the last time you celebrated your salvation — seeing and feeling how lost you were, what God did in saving you, and what you now have in Him?

That’s what Paul urges us to do —

Therefore remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.  Eph 2:11-13

Why Is This Important?

It’s because when I celebrate my salvation, I am —

  • sobered by how lost I was
  • humbled by God’s mercy in saving someone as sinful as me
  • stunned that God punished all my sin in His Beloved Son
  • thankful that God caused my dead heart to come alive with faith
  • comforted that forever I will have God rejoicing to do me good
  • strengthened by remembering all I have in Christ
  • established in knowing that Christ has permanently secured my salvation

Marvelous Light

That’s the focus of Charlie Halls’ song “Marvelous Light.”

So let this song help you celebrate your salvation.  (I’ve included the lyrics below.)

The Lyrics

Into marvelous light I’m running
Out of darkness, out of shame
By the cross You are the truth
You are the life, You are the way

I once was fatherless
A stranger with no hope
Your kindness wakened me
Awakened me, from my sleep

Your love it beckons deeply
A call to come and die
By grace now I will come
And take this life, take Your life

Sin has lost it’s power
Death has lost it’s sting
From the grave You’ve risen
Victoriously

Into marvelous light I’m running
Out of darkness, out of shame
By the cross You are the truth
You are the life, You are the way

My dead heart now is beating
My deepest stains now clean
Your breath fills up my lungs
Now I’m free, now I’m free

Sin has lost it’s power
Death has lost it’s sting
From the grave You’ve risen
Victoriously

Into marvelous light I’m running
Out of darkness, out of shame
By the cross You are the truth
You are the life, You are the way
