Biblical, battle-tested, real-life help for "living by faith in the Son of God" (Galatians 2:20). — Steve Fuller

“Mystery” by Charlie Hall (5-min worship video)

I love this song

One reason is the line “Sweet Jesus Christ my sanity,”

Sin, self-pity, worry, pride, lust — all insanity.

But trusting, worshiping, loving Jesus — that’s sanity.

The other is because of how the song builds to a massive, faith-building, majestic, declaration —

Christ has died and
Christ is risen,
and Christ will come again

Enjoy.

(I’ll post the lyrics below.)

Mystery, by Charlie Hall

Sweet Jesus Christ my sanity
Sweet Jesus Christ my clarity
Bread of heaven, broken for me
Cup of salvation held up to drink
Jesus the Mystery

Christ has died and
Christ is risen,
and Christ will come again

Sweet Jesus Christ my sanity
Sweet Jesus Christ my clarity
Bread of heaven broken for me
Cup of salvation held up to drink
Jesus the Mystery

Christ has died and
Christ is risen,
and Christ will come again

Celebrate his death and rising
Lift your eyes, proclaim his come
Celebrate his death and rising
Lift you eyes, lift your eyes

Celebrate his death and rising
Lift your eyes, proclaim his come
Celebrate his death and rising
Lift you eyes, lift your eyes

Christ has died and
Christ is risen,
and Christ will come again

Sweet Jesus Christ my sanity
Sweet Jesus Christ my clarity
Bread of heaven, broken for me
Cup of salvation held up to drink
Jesus the Mystery

  1. Tom Steller says:

Steve, thanks for pouring out love to God’s people and those who we hope will become God’s people through faith in Christ. I have been enjoying your blog so much. Thanks especially for passing Mystery on to us–a very anointed song! Your fingerprints on my life from our co-laboring together 34 years ago are more detectable than ever. I praise God for you and Jan–big time!

    • Steve Fuller says:

Such a joy to hear from you, Tom. And thank you for your encouraging words. Reading your comment brought tears to both Jan and me. How we love you and Julie!

And — among many other things I could mention — God used YOU (and Julie) to help us taste what worship could be. Thank you.
