Biblical, battle-tested, real-life help for "living by faith in the Son of God" (Galatians 2:20). — Steve Fuller

“Great Is Thy Faithfulness” (Chris Rice 4-min worship video)

An unexpected phone call

30 years ago I was in my church office when my wife called.

She had gone to the doctor about abdominal pain, and all she could say was “they found something wrong — can you come home?”

As I drove home it was “Great is Thy Faithfulness” that I sang and prayed to the Father.

Brings tears to my eyes even now as I remember.

A rock-solid foundation

Here’s what I sang —

Great is Thy Faithfulness, O God, my Father,

There is no shadow of turning with Thee.

Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,

As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

That reminded me — God is faithful.  He does not change.

Which meant that whatever Jan told me when I got home would be part of His faithful compassion to us.

What Jan told me

When I got home, Jan said the doctor had discovered a softball-sized growth in her abdomen, and had scheduled surgery.

We talked, and prayed, and fought to trust God’s faithfulness.

A few weeks later she had the surgery, which showed that the lump was benign, and it was removed.

We were thankful it was nothing worse, and for how God used this song to sustain us through this trial.

“Great is Thy Faithfulness”

The song is based on Lamentations 3:22-23 —

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

The video is simple — just the words.  So focus on Him, entrust your cares to Him, rest in Him.

Enjoy —

    Steve,

My understanding and appreciation of the greatness of His faithfulness back when we were young doesn’t compare with my appreciation of this fact now.

    My love to Jan,

    Brian

The same is true with me, Brian. And isn’t part of His faithfulness that He is patient with us as we are growing to see and trust more of His faithfulness?

May the Father richly bless you and your family today —

      Steve

Such a beautiful msg of assurance of God’s faithfulness. And a very nice backdrop, as we wind our way toward The Dalles, OR, along the Columbia Rvr. So much majestic grandure
