Biblical, battle-tested, real-life help for "living by faith in the Son of God" (Galatians 2:20). — Steve Fuller

A promise for those feeling far from God

Why bother?

Why seek God when I’m feeling so far from Him?

I have little faith — no passion — a dull and distracted heart.

So why bother?

Because He will come to you.

If you come to Jesus as you are, trusting His death to forgive you and His power to change you — and open God’s Word and cry out to Him to meet you — He will.

He promises — in Hosea 6:3 —

Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.

God promises that if we will press on to know Him — He will come to us.

How will He come?

He will come to us surely — as surely as the dawn will take place tomorrow.

He will come to us satisfyingly — like the spring rains that water the earth.

When will He come?

The timing is up to Him.

Sometimes I’ve experienced Him coming almost immediately.  But other times it takes longer.  Either way — it’s His love and mercy.

The timing is up to Him — but the seeking is up to me.

And if I seek — He will come.

He promises.

So seek Him.

    Hey Steve,
I really like that verse from Hosea it captures the essence of faith being lived out, and God’s response to trusting Him. I have been thinking a lot lately about God’s timing and how faith grows or fades while we wait upon His coming. What has helped me is to know that God is completely sovereign, that He has me firmly held in His hand, and that He is working ALL things together for my good (Romans 8:28). Knowing His Word helps me to know Him, and to know His ways are perfect in all things, and that He is faithful to His Word.

Steve! Really good stuff. Did you design this webpage yourself? Its very cool. You know how they say God moves in mysterious ways? It’s like that when He meets me. Mostly its subtle. It’s beautiful, and encouraging. Often there is nothing at all, which makes me wonder if I quit on Him. The battle gets irritating at times, as my mind and flesh, forget that there is nothing I want more than Jesus. Thank you for the reminder that God is Faithful! If I seek Him He will come.

Great to hear from you, Bill. Thanks for commenting.

The site was designed by Derek Punsalan — it’s a free WordPress theme. He’s been very helpful.

      Onward, brother!

Steve, Good verse to remember in times of trouble. It makes me think of Hebrews 12 and pressing on towards Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith. Nothing is more satisfying that knowing Him. Thank you.

Pray that He will come to me
